Classical ballet encourages muscle development, flexibility, good posture, balance, discipline and strength in a fun and exciting way!
Classical ballet is foundation of many dance genres and remains the foundation for HD Dance. For students who choose the ballet path, they often become the most versatile and technically proficient, above those that have not been trained in ballet.
Here at HD Dance we use the Cecchetti Syllabus and methodologies to teach our classical ballet program.
The Cecchetti syllabus is an internationally recognised system of training which gradually builds sound ballet technique while encouraging a love of music and dance. The syllabus is designed to suit the young dancer right through to the pre-professional and professional dancer.
We also offer an examination stream commencing from Pre-Primary 2. Exams are not compulsory; however, they do set a goal for students to which they are very proud of when achieved.

Ballet Production & Repertoire
One of the joys of learning to dance is to be part of a stage production.
It is here that the fascination and mysteries of stagecraft and the theatre are explored with the students.
Production classes are an important part of the HD Dance curriculum.
Only students who take Production Classes (with the exception of those students in Dance Play, Pre-Primary 1, Contemporary, Jazz, Tap, or Hip Hop exclusively) are eligible to participate in the Annual Performances.
The casting of these performances is at the discretion of the Director & Principal in association with the respective Choreographer or Producer of a given ballet or work to be staged.
Production classes are also compulsory for ballet students that wish to participate in examinations. (from Pre-Primary 2 and up).
Contemporary dance is a style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz, lyrical and classical ballet.
Contemporary dance and dancers strive to connect the mind and the body through fluid dance movements with a strong focus on modern techniques as well as musicality and self-expression.
We offer classes for both Intermediate and Advanced levels in which we use the ATOD syllabus as a basis of the syllabus taught.
We love welcoming young dancers into our studio – their innate rhythm, ability to feel the music and be naturally expressive is something to be treasured and nurtured.
Our Dance Play program is a delightful class based on early ballet technique communicated through storytelling, mime, improvisation & play.
