ANNUAL PERFORMANCE
PRODUCTION CLASSES & ANNUAL PERFORMANCE
One of the joys of learning to dance is to be part of a stage production. To this end, Production classes are an important part of the Heidelberg & District Ballet School’s curriculum. It is here that the fascination and mysteries of stagecraft and the theatre are brought before the students.
Only students who take Production Classes (with the exception of those students in Dance Play, Pre-Primary 1, Contemporary, Jazz, Tap, or Hip Hop exclusively) are eligible to participate in the Annual Performances which are presented each year in a legitimate theatre. The casting of these performances is at the discretion of the Director in association with the respective Choreographer or Producer of a given ballet or work to be staged.
Production classes are compulsory for students taking examinations. i.e. from Pre-Primary 2 and up. (Please refer to Cecchetti Examination section of this handbook for further details).
All costumes worn in the Annual Performance will be provided by the Heidelberg & District School of Dance. A hiring fee is charged to students participating and will be invoiced at the beginning of Term 3. The costume hire invoice is payable in two equal payments across terms three and four. Please note that this fee is non-refundable once participation has been confirmed.
